Our story

We are Chad and ReNee of Ehrhardt Grown. In late 2015, we decided to start raising our own meat birds because we were dissatisfied with the quality of chicken our local grocery stores were offering. The chickens that we would purchase lacked taste and often were either slimy and had a foul odor or were tough and rubbery in texture.
We did some research, read some Joel Salatin books and articles of other homesteaders who raised their own meat birds and decided we could raise our own. We would know what they were eating and we knew we would have a superior product than what we found elsewhere. So, we gave it a go.
For the first few years, both our grandmothers helped us process our chickens. They both decided to take early retirement in the last few years leaving us their blessings to carry on our mission. Our family and friends helped us by purchasing our chickens and we are forever grateful and appreciative of their support and encouragement.
We knew that there were others out there who didn't have the means to raise their own chicken, so we decided to approach some local health food stores. We sold our chickens at a health food store in Columbia and farm market store in Beaufort, and Aiken until we decided to market them ourselves. We currently offer our pastured raised chicken at the Aiken and Barnwell Farmers Markets. We also make appointments to sell as well.
Our mission
Our mission is simple: To raise healthy chickens, to humanely process them, and to offer them to our friends and neighbors.
